I'm going with the $14b of value drop as a realised loss to offset some other state, and shedding his debt to the middle east who provided leveraged debt finance. Given the massive decline in tesla stock worth I can't quite see it but perhaps a side effect of things is about value over time: Musk probably acquired a massive capital gain in tesla stock even with the current drop in value.
It's either money, debt or control. Or all three. I dont personally see any upside for X or xAI.
