Is anyone else annoyed by the recent changes to the android YouTube app where tapping on a video now dumps you into tiktok mode, where swiping up plays the next video instead of un-hiding the back button? Or frustrated that now to get a video into full screen mode you now need to first hit the "small-screen" button to get to the video details page, before you can finally tap the "full-screen" button? Or noticed that seemingly to ease the pain of viewing landscape videos, there is now 3x more portrait content, and the option to "show less shorts" has magically disappeared?
Where are the YouTube product managers? What are your OKRs? Was the assumption that if tiktok was banned people would put up and forget long form content ever existed?
For one I'm now using Firefox mobile, but my guess is that the web UI is also due for a lobotomy. Guess it's time to move on to more specialized platforms. Reminds me how google news was once good, does anyone still use that?
