Ask HN: Why hasn't Hexo taken off?

I recently converted my blog to Hexo but realized it seems like it doesn't get alot of love from really anyone outside China, why not?

    What makes you say that? The number of blogs created using it? Something else?

    There are hundreds of static site generators out there (https://jamstack.org/generators/). It's inevitable that many of them are getting lost in the mix.

    What does Hexo have to differentiate it from, say, Jekyll or Hugo or Eleventy? What would the value proposition for switching to Hexo be compared to other SSGs? And how has the developer behind Hexo been promoting it?
