I recommend the novel Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson.
Mars makes Antarctica look like a jungle.
"The Red Mars series initiated a shift in science fiction away from the stars and back to our real future in the solar system. Unless a technological miracle occurs, we are not building an interstellar civilization anytime soon..."

Bill Gates talks in a documentary about nuclear energies being old-fashioned. what kind of measures can be taken to solve possible problems due to building small nuclear power plants that will perform simpler processes instead of large nuclear power plants moreover, what do you think about possible interesting technological development?
I believe that something like this can be produced. I think most things can be invented with the right team and financing.
Going back to the thought experiment, let's think...
The first things that come to my mind are sabotage. But I want to put those bad things aside and think.
There could be a situation where electricity could be free. electricity companies might not like that. maybe there could be obstacles to the development of technology just because of that. okay, that sounds a bit like a conspiracy theory. let's be more serious!
Instead of using it in people's homes, it makes more sense to use it in space. it could be used for rocket fuel. although I don't know what would happen with the radiation of space. it could explode in space. But let's keep thinking.
It could be used for spacecraft, even if not in space, but on planets. It could be a good solution for the panels of solar-powered Mars vehicles that get dusty due to storms. because solar energy is not needed.
If we think about it, if a portable nuclear reactor is made, I think it can accelerate the colonization of Mars.
Does anyone think otherwise or better?
