    Why build yet another different thing? Why not instead become the best Mastodon instance around? That way they can focus on making a custom Mastodon client and server rather than trying to reinvent things.

    If Spill is better than the rest then people will choose it as their Mastodon provider, just as they choose between different email providers.

    This will go nowhere. Twitter has always been a "mess" and that hasn't hurt it's adoption.

    They’re called “spill” after the phrase “spill the tea,” and Terrell (one of the founders) said, that they’re leaning into the teacup motif. Even their website sports a Kermit sipping tea meme.
