    That's already built into Firefox (maybe Chrome as well?) and doesn't require the /.

    You can just pass a keyword in your bookmark setting and it will go to the URL when you type in the keyword.

You can also predefine your own keyword that will take you to your favorite destination. With I’m Feeling Lucky, you can simply enter yt/ to go to Youtube, fb/ to go Facebook, hn/ to go to Hacker News, etc.
